Banana Extrating Unit
In Kerala, the production of Banana has increased multifold during the past few years.
However, ventures on value added products from Banana have not gathered sufficient momentum.
In view of this, KAICO proposed to set up a Banana Extracting Unit at Chadayamangalam in Kollam District.
White Pepper unit at Waynad
Farmers being small and marginal do not have the capability to create infrastructure facilities required for
post harvest management including value addition. The Corporation has started a godown with modern facilities
for storing of pepper at Waynad District. It also offers the farmers a package of facilities required for post
harvest management and value addition on pepper by production of “white pepper”
Rice Mill at Panamaram, Wayanad
At present, there is no modern rice mills in Wayanad District.
The farmers are forced to depend on the other districts of Kerala and near by states.
The corporatiois aimed at establishing modern rice mill in Wayanad Districts with special
emphasis on ethnic varieties of Rice, Jeeraka sala, Gandkhka sala etc. The proposed rice
mill at Wayanad can provide a big boost to the rice production in Wayanad and neighbouring
districts.
STRENGTHENING OF REGIONAL WORKSHOPS
Kerala Agro Industries Corporation through the project aims at strengthening the regional workshops of KAIC,
equipping them with tools, machineries and adequate spare parts to render timely and efficient service support for agricultural
machinery.
MECHANIZATION SUPPORT AND LOBOUR BANK
Kerala is now fast moving towards mechanization and to meet the present day requirement in repair and maintenance of agricultural equipments, KAIC aims to impart properly planed training on maintenance and operation of modern agricultural machineries to the unemployed youth and propose to maintain a labour bank of these trained labourers for the repair and maintenance of agricultural machineries
